CWT has completed its 8th herd retirement program, which is the second retirement effort this year and the third in the last nine months. Final totals came in at 74,113 cows being sent to slaughter which will reduce our U.S. milk supply by 0.8%. The greatest level of participation in this round came from the West and
Southwest regions of the country accounting for 75% of all the cows that will be 
removed from the nations milking herds. 
Combining this latest total, with the 7th herd retirement effort held this spring
and CWT has removed over 200,00 milk cows and reduced potential milk production by nearly 2%.
