Appleton (WFRV) – The Aces/Xavier Catholic school system has announced the closure of Catholic Central elementary school in downtown Appleton.

Catholic Central is one of four elementary schools operated by ACES/Xavier. The school will close at the end of the school year and students will be enrolled at one of the remaining three schools.

Parents and staff were notified of the closure tonight at a meeting before school officials held a news conference.

Tony Abts, the president of the Aces Xavier school system, says the closure will save $450,000 a year.
