A Sheboygan County woman is dead, after she was struck by a vehicle.  The Sheriff's Department says it happened around 4:50 p.m. yesterday on Highway A near Gibbons Rd., in the Town of Holland.

Helen Vandewege, the 89 year old Oostburg woman was pronounced dead on the scene.  It is not believed that the 79 year old man driving the vehicle sustained any injuries from the crash. 

The driver told police he had been drinking, but was not arrested for drunken driving.  A blood sample will be tested and results could take several weeks.
