40 years in prison for man who assaulted toddler

Last Update: 11/03 10:22 am

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) — A 26-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 17-month-old girl he was baby-sitting.

Jeremy Lund was also ordered to serve 20 years of extended supervision when he is released from prison.

Lund pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault of a child and physical abuse of a child, both as a repeat offender, in the Jan. 20 incident.

Court records say the girl's parents returned home Jan. 20 and found baby wipes with blood on them and their daughter alone in her crib, bruised and bleeding.

Wood County Circuit Judge Greg Potter said Monday the case against Lund was repulsive because it was hard to comprehend how anyone could think about having intercourse with an infant of 17 months, much less doing it.
