Florida remained the top team in the latest Associated Press college football poll, while Texas moved back into the second slot ahead of Alabama.

The Gators (8-0), who slipped back into the No. 1 spot last week after Alabama had jumped them the previous week, dominated Georgia at the Cocktail Party on Saturday with a 41-17 triumph for their 18th straight win.

Florida received 38 first-place votes, eight more than last week, and a total of 1,448 points from a nationwide media panel.

Texas (8-0), coming off a 41-14 rout at Oklahoma State on Saturday, leapt over idle Alabama to take the No. 2 spot. The Longhorns, who started the season as the second-ranked team, garnered 13 first-place votes, six more than last week, and 1,408 points.

Alabama (8-0), which hosts No. 9 LSU next Saturday, picked up eight No. 1 tallies and 1,390 points.

Cincinnati and Boise State took advantage of Southern California's loss at Oregon on Saturday and each moved up one spot into fourth and fifth, respectively. TCU jumped two spots into sixth, while Oregon's 47-20 rout of the Trojans pushed the Ducks up three spots to seventh.

Iowa, LSU and Georgia Tech complete this week's top 10.

The second 10 consists of Penn State, Southern California, Houston, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Miami-Florida, Utah, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. The Trojans tumbled eight spots following their loss in Eugene, while the Fighting Irish moved up six spots from 25th after a 40-14 thumping of Washington State.

Arizona, Virginia Tech, California, Wisconsin and BYU are the last five teams ranked this week. The Hokies dropped eight spots after a home loss to North Carolina.

California, Wisconsin and BYU are new entries this week. California and BYU had been ranked earlier this season, while Wisconsin is among the top 25 for the first time in 2009.

West Virginia, South Carolina and Ole Miss each fell from the rankings after losses this past weekend.

In addition to the LSU/Alabama showdown, the only other game next week involving a pair of ranked teams pits Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Penn State in Happy Valley.
