Last Update: 11/03 5:09 pm

Second-seeded Serbian star Novak Djokovic highlighted Tuesday's opening-round winners at the Swiss Indoors

The former Australian Open champion Djokovic handled German Andreas Beck 6-3, 7-5 at St. Jakobshalle. Djokovic popped 10 aces and recorded three service breaks in a 1-hour, 26-minute victory.

Up next for the world No. 3 Djokovic will be Czech Jan Hernych.

Meanwhile, wild card and Swiss crowd favorite Marco Chiudinelli upended eighth-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 7-5 and Finnish veteran Jarkko Nieminen dismissed France's Julien Benneteau 7-5, 6-2.

Additional Day-2 wins came for the aforementioned Hernych, Serbian Viktor Troicki, Russian qualifier Evgeny Korolev and Swiss qualifier Michael Lammer.

On Wednesday, Basel's favorite son, Roger Federer, will play his second-round match against Italian Andreas Seppi.

The world No. 1 Federer, who once served as a ball boy here in Basel, is the reigning three-time champion here. He defeated his long-time rival David Nalbandian in last year's finale.

The top-seeded all-time men's Grand Slam king Federer is playing his first tennis since losing to Argentine slugger Juan Martin del Potro in September's U.S. Open final.

The winner of this $2.59 million event will collect $430,000.
